Career Development: How can I successfully guide my career?

A HSG Alumni Career Event with Lee Hecht Harrison’s active participation

On June 27th a good 100 HSG Alumni came to the plenary hall of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Zürich. The variety in the program and the expertise of the speakers promised an interesting evening.

Patrick de Maseneire, CEO of the Adecco Group, kicked off the event with an entertaining and personal keynote speech. His accurate and at times pointed comments were referenced throughout the evening. Afterwards the HSG Alumni were split into groups and participated in various workshops. One group under the direction of Nicola Fielder, Director Consulting, and Chris Nettleton, Senior Consultant, both with Lee Hecht Harrison, delved into ideas on how to successfully navigate a career change. Both facilitators could draw on their years of experience as consultants. The event concluded with a panel discussion of all the speakers hosted by Eva Nietlispach.

The importance of networking in connection with moving a career forward was often focused on by the Lee Hecht Harrison representatives. Perhaps this was part of the reason why the sociable aperitif lasted well into the night…

Change Management: Change as an opportunity

A plenary discussion in cooperation with Burson-Marsteller

On May 3rd 2011 Lee Hecht Harrison in cooperation with Burson-Marsteller organized an interesting breakfast discussion at the Restaurant Metropol in Zurich. The guests enjoyed a practical and experience-based discussion between the following panelists:

Mr Rudolf Matter, Director Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen SRF,
Mr Dr. Alain Ritter, Head Human Resources, Georg Fischer Piping Systems Ltd.,
Mrs Ute Dehn Christen, Practice Leader Corporate Finance Communications,
Burson-Marsteller, and
Mr Dr. Pascal Schweiwiller, Managing Director, Lee Hecht Harrison.

The discussion was based on the opening premise that 85% of European companies have experienced at least one major change in the last five years and that nothing less is expected in future. This raises the question of how companies deal with change and which leadership and communication tools can help to secure the success of change processes.

The debate quickly confirmed the importance of a frictionless interaction between HR and target-oriented communication in change processes. As the group of participants was comprised of specialists from both fields , the discussion was not only on the „what?“ and „when?“, but also very much focused on the „who?“ and „how?“.  For only if the change is supported by all the employees can the organization drive the change efficiently and effectively in the desired direction. Leadership Development: The leadership development farce

Systematic development of leadership qualities - A "Forum HR-Strategie im Schweizerische Institut für Betriebsökonomie (SIB)" event

Traditional development measures soon reach their limits. Why are they ineffective? How can their limitations be overcome? How can employee and leadership development tools be designed more effectively?

These and other questions were discussed by Lee Hecht Harrison representatives at the SIB event on May 3rd in Zurich.

The opening speech by Dr. Pascal Scheiwiller, Managing Director, Lee Hecht Harrison on „The Leadership Development Farce“ offered plenty of stimuli for the subsequent discussion among the participants. Leadership in general and the compatibility of branding, leadership and culture were among the topics discussed. The event was rounded off by a best practice presentation by Anita Altherr, Master Coach, Lee Hecht Harrison, and Matthew Baines, Marketing Controller, PPG Architectural Coating EMEA. Both speakers presented their experiences on how coaching techniques can be implemented in every day leadership activities and on how top leaders can become internal coaches.

Dr. Pascal Scheiwiller's December 2010 newsletter „The leadership development farce“ gave the initial impetus for this event.
